Another rainy weekend is ahead of us...rain = ick. BUT, despite the weather, there is one bit of thrill to my day and that is getting to share an interesting article on Wedding Myths & Superstitions: http://ezinearticles.com/?Wedding-Myths-and-Superstitions&id=581079.

"Wedding Blackout" Dates

I’m sure you are still eyeing that ring months after saying “YES!” But now it’s time to let the planning begin! It’s time to start thinking about your dream wedding! Maybe you have always dreamed of a wedding by the beach or in a garden. These details should be discussed and agreed upon with your FiancĂ©e so that you may decide on a date.

Here is a list of "wedding blackout" dates to consider. Think twice before scheduling your wedding at these times, as many guests are not fans of the “Holiday Wedding.”

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (always a Monday)
President's Day (always a Monday)
Memorial Day (always a Monday)
Independence Day
Labor Day (always a Monday)
Columbus Day (always a Monday)
Thanksgiving (always a Thursday)
New Year's Eve

Getting Engaged!

So you just got engaged. Congratulations!! Now what?

Once the initial shock wears off and you stop eyeing that ring (yes it is yours forever), you will need to make a lot of decisions. You’re first thought may be to join WeddingChannel.com, or Theknot.com, the list is endless. Each site will provide an article detailing a list of tasks that must be completed as soon as possible. But don’t let them fool you!

For example, if you are recently engaged theknot.com provides many articles of what’s next, once of which will pinpoint nine tasks to complete after getting engaged. That article and others can be viewed here: http://www.theknot.com/keywords/sc_167_533.shtml

Don’t let yourself become overwhelmed the first month or two of being engaged. In my experience it’s best to lay low and really enjoy being engaged!
